2006 Internet Spending Rises 80%

We know a lot.

For example, when we think of Canada, we see it as a special place. It has one of the best broadband infrastructures in the world. More Canadians are online than any other G8 nation, with three in five online homes having a broadband connection.

Internet users in Canada also spent more than 13 hours online each week.

However, when we look at ad spending in Canada, as little as 5 percent of the total expenditures were for Internet advertising and marketing. Why are companies today spending so little? It's a growth story. After all, the Internet has only been around in its current form since 1993.

Here's the proof:

In 2006, investment in Internet design and advertising rose 80% from 2005, and surpassed the 1 billion dollar mark for the first time. By 2011, this value is predicted to triple to 3 billion dollars due to increased interest in Internet marketing.

Is this information useful to businesses today? Yes.

By putting their best foot forward now, businesses are able to better reach their ideal customers with exciting and powerful messages. It really is an investment in the future, when you think about it, one that brings higher returns.
